Dear Co-op Members, Thank you to those members who have found subs for themselves or donated their share to the group when they go away. This helps our coordinators, who are not pressured to fill spots, the pod members, who get food instead of not getting it because a delivery has to be cancelled, and our small, regional farmers, who otherwise would not be selling as much. Delivery schedule: Aug. 9 & 23; skipping Sept. 6, so Sept. 13 & 27; Oct. 11 & 25; Nov. 8 & 22; Dec. 6, 20 & Jan. 3.
This week, we're getting New York ecologically grown peaches and organically grown red cabbage, red, green or yellow Swiss chard, cucumbers, green beans, romaine and Bibb lettuces, bunched onions and mixed summer squashes, Delaware blueberries (grown by a NJ farmer on his other farm; he explained that soft berries last time were sweetest variety, and we can always freeze if too soft. Weren’t yours incredible?) California cantaloupe, carrots, Yukon Gold potatoes, and black plums; hothouse plum tomatoes from Mexico and Ecuadorian bananas. Please call immediately with any quality questions.
Fruit shares are getting a supersweet pineapple, Superior grapes, and a double order of luxurious Ranier cherries (slightly bruised—use soon.) Fruit shares are $20, or three or more, $17. Please order by Monday morning, or call to cancel or confirm by then as well.
A few new members are needed for the groups in Annandale, Teaneck, Waldwick, Valley Cottage and Staten Island. Please call with addresses and phone numbers of any potentially interested friends in these (or any) areas and we will send a brochure. Thank you
Dividing instructions are in the manila envelope sent with each delivery. Dividers, please be vigilant about quality and call us right away so we can get credit from suppliers. Please get an ok from the office if you think it best not to give out an entire case of something. Always get an ok from the office before you divide two of something if the dividing instructions don't say to divide two cases, bags, etc.

Calalou Greens with Garlic (also try them in a creamed spinach recipe)
1 bunch calalou greens, well washed 5-6 or more cloves garlic olive oil
Peel and chop garlic and cook in olive oil over low heat until it becomes brown and gluey, about 15-20 minutes. Add chopped calalou greens and cook, stirring often, until greens are tender. Yummy and energizing.
