Jicama is native to Mexico and Central America and is a staple ingredient in Filipino and Malaysian cuisine.
To serve raw, peel off the rough outer skin, slice and serve with salt, chili powder, lemon, or lime juice as a snack/crudite, or add to salads. May also be fried, steamed or boiled in soups and stir-fries.
Jicama will keep for three weeks when stored in a cool and dry place.
